Mutual of Omaha Tower Update: Towering Progress in Downtown Omaha

As the Mutual of Omaha Headquarters continues to rise at the heart of downtown Omaha, the momentum on site has been remarkable. This update marks a major milestone: the tower is approaching its full height, and the building is now taking clear shape, both on the skyline and within its interior spaces.

At 677 feet tall, the Mutual of Omaha tower will redefine Omaha’s skyline and set the foundation for a next-generation workplace designed to support the company’s future growth and innovation.

Structural Progress: Topping Out the Core

The tower structure has reached a significant milestone as vertical construction nears completion. The shear core is now complete to the top of the building at Level 46, with steel erection advancing through the upper levels and deck pours closely following. Rising more than 600 feet above downtown Omaha, the structure now clearly defines the tower’s full scale and presence. This steady, floor-by-floor progress signals a pivotal transition from primary structural work to enclosure and interior build-out.

Winter Work & Site Coordination

Progress hasn’t slowed with the season. Temporary heat and enclosures are now in place throughout the building to protect completed work and maintain quality during winter construction. These preparations allow crews to continue fireproofing, deck pours, and interior work efficiently, even in colder conditions.

Building Enclosure: The Tower Takes Shape

As the tower rises, the building’s exterior is rapidly coming together. Curtain wall installation continues its steady ascent, enclosing completed floors and giving the tower its defining architectural presence. Work on the garage and podium elevations is also advancing, with architectural detailing and signage elements beginning to integrate into the façade. With enclosure progressing ahead of interior finishes, the building is increasingly protected from the elements, supporting continued momentum through the winter season.

Interior Build-Out: Floors Coming to Life

Inside the tower, interior construction is gaining momentum as multiple trades work in parallel across the building. Office floors are transitioning from structure to finished space, with access flooring, fireproofing, wall systems, and finishes steadily advancing. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems continue to be installed throughout, marking key infrastructure milestones and bringing the future workplace environment into clearer focus each week.

Looking Ahead

Lanoha remains closely involved in every phase of the project, from early planning through construction administration, working alongside Mutual of Omaha to ensure the project continues to reflect their needs, values, and long-term vision. Each milestone brings us closer to delivering a workplace and a downtown landmark that will serve Mutual of Omaha and the city for generations to come.
