Mutual of Omaha Tower Reaches New Heights in Downtown Omaha

The Mutual of Omaha Tower is quickly becoming one of the most iconic developments in the state. As construction approaches the tower’s full height, this transformative project is poised to redefine Omaha’s skyline and set a new standard for what the workplace of the future can be.
Developed by Lanoha Real Estate Company, the tower will stand 44 stories tall, making it the tallest building in Nebraska. Its concrete core has already reached level 40, with steel currently being installed at level 29 and floor-to-ceiling glass panels climbing steadily upward.
In a recent feature with KETV NewsWatch 7, Jason P. Lanoha, President and CEO of Lanoha Real Estate Company, shared insights into the progress and complexity of the project ““It’s really a complicated dance. Everyone is dependent on every other step. It takes an incredible amount of teamwork and precision to keep this pace.”
Construction is a 300-person effort on-site daily, powered by 18-hour crane operations and a tightly choreographed schedule. Inside the tower, progress continues with the installation of 21 high-speed elevators, including eight high-rise elevators that will be the fastest in the state, traveling at a speed of 1,400 feet per minute.
Beyond its size and speed, the project is meaningful because of what it represents.“We were designing this building during Covid,” said Jason Lanoha. “It’s the first post-COVID office tower in Omaha, and it reflects a shift in how we work. We want flexible workspaces, best-in-class amenities, and places that make people want to come to work.” The design includes multiple garden terraces, fitness amenities, food-focused offerings, and expansive views. Every detail is tailored to support the evolving needs of today’s workforce.
About 75% of the tradespeople working on the project are from the Omaha area, contributing their skill to a structure that will leave a lasting legacy. “The folks working here are so proud of what they’re able to do for Omaha,” said Ben Reicks, Vice President at JE Dunn Construction. “They’ll be able to point to this tower and say, ‘I helped build that.’”
As the tower continues to rise, so does the excitement around what it represents for Omaha’s future. Mutual of Omaha employees are expected to move into their new headquarters in late 2026. Lanoha remains committed to delivering a building that reflects Mutual of Omaha’s legacy, supports the future of work, and celebrates the strength of our local community. We’re proud to help bring this vision to life.
